Terms of use & free trial

These terms cover use of this website and 1405’s free trial. Paid work is governed by a short written quote or order email that may add or replace terms. This is a practical template for a small studio — have a lawyer review before relying on it commercially.

1. Who we are

2. Free trial

• Duration: 14 days from the day we confirm your bot is live (or we give you the widget).
• Limits: up to 100 conversations and training on up to 20 pages or FAQ items.
• No credit card is required to start.
• We cover model API cost only within those trial limits.
• One free trial per business unless we agree otherwise in writing.
• We may refuse or end a trial that is abusive, illegal, or clearly outside scope (e.g. high-risk medical/legal advice bots).
• When the trial ends you may: (a) move to Hosted bot at $49/month, (b) buy a project, or (c) ask us to remove the bot. If we don’t hear from you, we take the trial offline.

3. Paid plans & projects

• Listed prices are in USD and exclude any applicable tax.
• Hosted bot and Care plans bill monthly and can be cancelled before the next billing date.
• One-time projects require a written scope and price before work starts. Payment terms are stated on the quote (typically a deposit then balance on delivery).
• Third-party AI API fees after go-live are usually billed to your own account and are not included in our fee unless stated.

4. Your content & responsibilities

• You must own or have rights to content you give us to train bots.
• You are responsible for how the bot is used on your site and for reviewing answers in regulated industries.
• AI can be wrong. Our bots are assistants, not professional advice.

5. Acceptable use

No illegal activity, malware, spam, hate, or attempts to attack our systems or scrape the service beyond normal use.

6. Intellectual property

You keep your content and brand. We keep our tools, prompts, and internal code unless a project quote says otherwise. For custom projects we typically grant you a licence to use the delivered configuration for your business.

7. Availability

We aim for reliable service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. Free trial is provided “as is” without SLA.

8. Liability

To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect loss (profits, data, goodwill). Our total liability for a free trial is $0. For paid services, liability is limited to fees you paid us in the 3 months before the claim, except where the law does not allow a limit (e.g. death/personal injury caused by negligence, fraud).

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers may have mandatory local rights.
